SD40.com has a new look. But it's what's "under the hood" that is the real story behind the changes at SD40.com.
This site now hosted by Host Gator of Houston, TX, which also hosts my new domains, dj-holmes.com and wisconsin-central.com
I will be transitioning the non train-related content to the dj-holmes.com site and SD40.com will become strictly a train-related site.
The site has been re-designed from the ground up to take advantage of the tremendous flexibility afforded by Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). CSS has been around for a while, but not until now have I ever used them on my site. When I changed my Web hosting provider around the beginning of 2008, I decided to start with a clean sheet of paper and design my site with CSS and XHTML. Embracing standards is always a good thing, and I have been learning a lot about CSS and XHTML as I build this site.
Things will continue to chage with this site as I learn even more about CSS and XHTML. I'll also be applying PHP and JavaScript to this site as I learn more about the use of these powerful tools.
